I enjoyed this book so much that I bought another one for my sister's birthday. It has everything, romance, suspense and intrigue. I couldn't put it down. Kerry Mote is an incredible author. I would highly recommend Hot Ice in Roman Ruins. I can't wait for her next novel.
Kerry Mote does an wonderful job of creating believable characters caught up in a suspenseful situation. She weaves historical fact into the story and takes the reader on an adventure to Rome. She blends her love of travel, history, romance and suspense into a well written first novel. I found it fun to read and couldn't wait to find out what would happen to Kay Etom the heroine of the story.

As you start reading this book you need to be a little patient in the beginning, but it gets better and better. It is not unusual for a good book to start "slow". Motte takes her time to place you, the reader, in the middle of the story. This book is everything, a travel guide of Rome, romance, crime novel. The author plays with her name as the main character in the book and in fact you can sense the autobiographical references to her own life. She lived these stories and she retold them in a very exciting way. We - as readers - are still not sure where fiction starts. Motte makes a hero out of a middle age women, knowingly that life is far from over for women this age. In fact the adventure is about to start now. You will read this book, not being able to stop reading. You want to know if there is still a twist at the end. Is there? You need to find out on your own.

Only read this book if you want to be totally enthralled with facts & fiction intertwined! I was mesmerized & intrigued with the excitement of the book while learning so much about Roman history at the same time!! Can't wait to read the sequel!!
Passion, love, life, serendipity and suspense! This book has it all. The charactors are so vivid and their journey is so interesting. The author truly helps the reader be present. I've never been to Rome, but, I could clearly visualize the architecture and sculpture, so much so that I felt like I was there. I love being on the inside of the heroines heart as she rediscovers passion and her zest for life. I enjoyed this tremendously!!
